Wishlist 2009

Just my wishlist for warlocks during 2009... You can always dream!

  1. A.G.L.R.T.N for warlocks (Anti-Gnome-Long-Range-Tactical-Nuke).
  2. Challenging raid content (Hey Ulduar!).
  3. The removal of VoA (Close, atleast it's not as easy to PuG).
  4. Less burst in PvP (Well, destruction is not that bad anymore).
  5. Destruction buffs (Coming from what I've heard).
The fun thing is i had this list long before 3.1 which fixed most of these things. So it seems it's a good start of the year. Now if i could just get that nuke.

The art of being a bastard

That's the translation i make of the line "How to be a good officer". Most raiding guilds (which i know of) that never make it past the entry level raiding, fall apart due to drama or just never go raiding at all due to poor leadership. I'm not a ace at being a leader myself, but what the hell i learn by doing. Being a insensitive bastard to some degree is a start IMO.

Because guild killer moments is when the leadership gets too friendly with people. And when other people complain to the officers about others performing really bad and dragging the raid down or similar stuff, then the officers won't be able to react properly. Mostly because they are friends with the people who are performing badly and don't want to hurt them by confronting them. Thus guild drama is created which is just another hole in a already sinking ship when it comes to stuff like this. A classic example is the guild leader with the under performing girlfriend who can't play for shit but still gets to come because the fact that she is the guild leaders girlfriend.
IMO there are 2 types of raiding people.
-Raiders.
And...
-The people who gets to raid because they know other people who raid.
But I'll get to that some other day...

Let's face it! raiding guilds are sinking warships which either are already burning or got oil lamps far to close to the short fuse that leads to the ammunition supply. Leading them is a matter of how fast you are at plugging the holes, moving the fire away from the fuses and dodging bullets flying at you from all directions.
Now let's say you stop for a minute because you are afraid you might hurt the oil lamps feelings. if you move them away from where they are standing, or if you are afraid they won't like the way you carry them, they might get sad and you don't want that... That might be just the amount of time the oil lamp needs before it gets hit by a stray bullet and then your standing in a inferno, still with bullets flying around you. Then you will wish you weren't that caring about the oil lamps feelings or that you were the one who were getting hit by that stray bullet instead.

On the other hand. If you are a bastard who understands that you gotta move the damn oil lamp and you don't give a damn if it doesn't like being moved you have averted the crisis and you got less problems.

To sum it up, hard decisions gotta be made, if no one makes them things just gets worse and sometimes people will hate you for it but if you care about everyone's feelings the whole guild will be ripping each others eyes out within the week is over. Most new guilds are formed around friends who all get a officer spot, not due to their leadership skills but just because they are friends of whoever created the guild. A guild like that will sooner or later run into a huge wall if none of these officers decide to be a bastard.

Narwhals!

Warning, highly addictive.

Flash: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/484667
Music: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/221806

So this style of music loop won't be something that blows your mind if you have seen stuff like magical trevor before. Just a little something that can easily get you addicted if left in the background while farming or raiding. I caught myself still listening to it after two and a half hours of raiding.

This one is nothing special from other similar loops but i like it. Mostly because it gives me a reason to run around yelling something random in raids. "NARWHALS!" raised a few eyebrows and some even got their brains pierced by the "kickass facial horns" and joined the mindless zombie horde.

NOTE: I take no responsibility if you are harmed physically in some way by your guildmates after spouting "Narwhals!" all over the place. And as our current MotD in the guild indicates, violence might be a common reaction.
"If Ela says "Narwhals" again, kill him!"

Introductions might be in order.

So who am I?
I am a 19 year old guy with way too much time on my hands and with a bit more time in /played than what makes me feel comfortable. I live in Sweden, love everything that is more complicated than a calculator tech wise. I mostly spend my free time on games, browsing the net, going to the gym, hanging out with the friends and keeping a WoW guild together with wishes and a lot of duct tape.
There! that's me in a nutshell so let me answer some questions that might have popped into your head.

Why write this blog?
Well.... With the current state of WoW raiding, my unpredictable work hours and my ability to clobber people with my walls of text on the guild forums it seemed like a good idea at the time. That time being 03:00 after coming home from work, it wasn't the most thought through decision I've made.
But mostly because I'm bored out of my mind and this should provide a proper place for me to rant on.
At least it is my hope that this blog will exceed the enjoyment i get from battling goldbegging lowlvls in SW, selling enchants to twinks and watching anal jokes in /trade.
And if i happen to come into a argument with someone it would be a nice change of quality to get a response that held some kind of content in it instead of the usual ones.
Most of them being one out of the following:
  • Your mom!
  • Y0u 5uxx0rzz n00b!!!!11one!
  • What's that mean??? Stop writing words at me!!
What is this blog about?
Frankly i haven't decided yet and I'm not sure if i ever will heh. Most likely it's going to be, hang on....
WoW seen from a elitist, bastard, guild officer, warlock point of view.
There! I said it, but it's not really narrowing anything down but it means me ranting about stuff that piss me off or that interests me.

What's with the blog name?
The first name i had in mind was "Another (F-bomb) warlock". But i guess some people would get pissed off by something like that so i came up with something.. better?
The current name of the blog got a rather simple story behind it.
Ever since the old MC days I've been blamed for everything from raidwipes to crap lootdrops. I don't really know how it all started off but i guess it was due to me taking aggro (Being a destro lock with no aggro reduction back in the day.) and then it somehow caught wind. I've been stuck with the blame ever since then. here's some examples.
-The raid wipes and I'm in it = my fault.
-The raid wipes and I'm on vacation in Denmark for the weekend = my fault
-Someone dies on a alt on another server twice in Nagrand while I'm in china = my fault.
Yeah, you get the picture..

That's the rant for now. Thought I would put something out there to ease the confusion and give me something to help me with layout.

Setting up shop

So yeah..
Sorry about the big empty black void here. I just can't be bothered to do anything right now but it'll come, hopefully.
